Theescombe Hill House in Amberley is an amazing and immaculate property renovated from top to toe to create a wonderful, light filled and airy home with a distinct Scandi feel that embraces its far reaching views across the Woodchester Valley across to the award winning Woodchester Valley Vineyard that offers tours and tastings.
One of its main features is the infinity style pool that makes the most of the views and is heated all year round: heated to 28˚ from April to November but from December to March it will be 12˚however guests can pay an additional fee for it to be heated to 28˚ albeit two weeks notice is required to reach 28˚in this later period. The bar, Winston’s Bar, taking the owner’s schoolboy nickname – opens out onto the pool terrace which is well equipped for summer outdoor dining and evening cocktails to enjoy the western sunsets.
There are six bedrooms and five bathrooms in total, with five in the main house and one en-suite bedroom in the self-contained Coach House; ideal for someone who wants a little more privacy or for staff. Bedroom configuration:
- Bedroom 1: King bed with ensuite shower room
- Bedroom 2: Superking that can be a twin – access to family bathroom (shower over bath)
- Bedroom 3: Double bed with ensuite wet-room/shower
- Bedroom 4: King bed – access to family bathroom (shared with Bedroom 2)
- Bedroom 5: Master Suite: Superking bed with ensuite bathroom, shower and separate bath
- Coach House: King bed with shower ensuite
Bedrooms 1 – 4 are on first floor in main house and Bedroom 5 (Master) is on the second floor of main house. The Coach House is detached and bedroom is on 1st floor.
The house is very private – it is not overlooked and has external CCTV for the protection of the property and the owner’s guests – and is set in one of the prettiest parts of the Cotswolds, the sometimes over looked Five Valleys area which is rolling and almost Swiss like. There are great walks on the doorstep and the house is set just below the renowned Minchinhampton Common, a wonderful space for wandering or kite flying. The house is within walking distance of a number of great dining pubs – like The Old Lodge, The Black Horse and The Amberley – and Minchinhampton Golf Club, open to day visitors, is also in walking distance. Not far away are the famous Highgrove Gardens, the lovely Woodchester Lakes and delightful villages and towns like Minchinhampton and Tetbury plus Stroud Farmer’s Market, every Saturday, is an absolute must visit.
