The Fox was built in the seventeenth century from local stone, likely quarried from the fields around Oddington, and has been recorded as a pub since 1856; by 1862 it already had a parlour, shop, carriage house and skittle alley. Original mullioned windows and an ironstone barrel-vaulted cellar survive today, along with carved witch marks once cut into the stone to ward off evil spirits. After a complete refurbishment in July 2022, the Fox reopened as part of the Daylesford Stays Collection, bringing it under the same ownership as Daylesford Organic and the Wootton estate.

A Village Pub with Daylesford Behind It
The Fox remains, deliberately, a proper village pub at heart — a central bar with flagstone floors, hop-garlanded beams, bare wooden tables and fox-head details, several stone-walled rooms and alcoves, and a walled garden for al fresco meals. What has changed is the kitchen behind it: the menu now draws on ingredients from Daylesford Organic’s own farms and the neighbouring Wootton estate, alongside seasonal produce from British growers.
